For those of you who missed out last week, NetBase had the opportunity to collaborate on a really informative webinar with Jeremiah Owyang @jowyang, of the Altimeter Group, covering 7 Types of Social Media Data that Help You Understand Consumers (check out replay and slide deck and article written about it!). I had the pleasure of working with Jeremiah, and wow, that guy is smart – he really gets social. Even his dog has a Twitter account @goodboyrumba (and a Klout score that’s only 4 points lower than mine…I really must do something about that).

But, I digress. While wrapping up the webinar, we offered a custom Brand Passion Index to the first 50 interested attendees. As the requests for everything from cars, organic baby clothing lines to personal lubricants came rolling in, it got me thinking that I should run a Brand Passion Index on the Altimeter Group and the other analyst firms that we tech marketers have come to know, and love? Hate? That was up for NetBase to figure out. So check out the results:

In this graphic, the amount of chatter about a brand is indicated by the size of the bubble, while the placement of the bubble shows the intensity of passion.

Altimeter Group is small, but it is mighty – people love them! When I looked at the reasons why the social world is passionate about this firm, the themes that bubbled up were: high quality insights, reports, presentations and people.  Look at just some of the verbatim that NetBase surfaced:

There’s a lot of great insights and I am a huge fan of both Jeremiah Owyang and the Altimeter Group Altimeter Group has a great report on the role and path of the corporate social media strategies

This is a great presentation by Jeremiah Owyang from the Altimeter Group that looks at how corporate websites can be still relevant in a world of social networks

@CharleneLi’s Altimeter Group has great employees like @rwangO & @jowyang wbf10 – 3 of my fav peps in the world!

And what some of the hashtag (#11for11) from Wednesday’s webinar returned during Jeremiah’s presentation:If you missed the excellent webinar this morn w/ @Net_Base & @jowyang, track down replay/slides. Killer insight. #11for11

@jowyang #11for11 Great presentation and lots of good information. Will use it to be a better marketer for clients.

As for Gartner and Forrester, they both got significantly more chatter than the others.  The interesting thing to note however is that both firms did not have much in the way of love or hate chatter, just a lot of more” factual” comments.

Now I’m off to improve my Klout score…. Follow me @lisajoyrosner if you’d like to help me beat my new canine Twitter rival, @goodboyrumba.
